Summer

The girls STAAR scores came in. Maggie took the English II test. She was in the 84th percentile. Ruby took math and reading. For reading, she got 82nd percentile and math was 91st percentile. Ruby's teacher wanted her to do extra practice after the practice test because she was so close to the mastered level. I told Ruby and she was like nah, I'm fine with meets grade level. Ha! However, she did get mastered for both subjects!

I almost murdered Maggie. She had a sleepover with Nana and Gran. Ruby was at camp, I think, and I was between sessions. Suddenly, I heard Millie barking and then I saw a shadow walk past outside my door. I did not consider that Maggie had told me earlier that day she would be coming home that day, but instead went into full fight mode. I looked around my room, decided my 40 lb. barbell thing was too unwieldy and I would fight with my 15 lb. dumbbell. I actually had the thought, well, this is it, I gotta go for the kill. Then Maggie yelled, hi Mom. This whole thing was probably 30 seconds. I told Maggie I almost killed her but I'm glad to know, in an emergency, I'm ready to fuck someone up.

I got Covid again, or I think I did. Either way I was super sick in June! Laurie told me viruses don't care what month it is but that's just crazy.

An old story: when Maggie was 4ish and Ella was 2ish, we all went to brunch somewhere. I was eating the eggs and said, oh these are a little spicy, and little Ella (when she still had that super squeaky voice) said, I don't think it's spicy, Aunt Carrie. Ha! I got shaded by a two year old.

Another one: when Jillian was little she used to say, how do you dare? and you are a lie. The funny thing is that I say those all the time and my kids know they are Jillian-isms. I said one of them one time in front of Laurie and she was like oh yeah Jillian used to say that.

We did our yearly doctor appointment. We had so much fun. Maggie is now 5'5" and weighs 87 pounds. We laughed our heads off. I told her, girl a stiff wind is going to blow you away. Then Maggie was doing her eye exam and she said, do you want me to cover both eyes? She said it seriously and then immediately realized what she'd said and we were cracking up.

Ella and Jillian came over a couple of times and spent the day with us. Jillian slept over a couple of times. They are such sweet girls.

I have a recurring dream where I can't remember where I parked and just wander around forever looking. Then, Rachel, Laurie, and I went to dinner and, when we left, I couldn't find my car. In fairness, I rarely drive and I always forget what my car looks like and I had to wander around and click my car thing until I saw my car lights blinking.

Maggie and I watched a scary movie called Creep. It was too scary. We spent a ridiculous amount of time where I hid my face and Maggie just described the movie.

Pictures

This is Binx. When Gwen was driving home from Grandpa's birthday dinner, she saw a cat on the side of the highway. Being Gwen, she rescued him. I told her we would take him but then it turned out he was declawed. Because I'm dumb I had already told the girls and so we ended up having to adopt a cat.

These are our new floors. They are related to the new cat.
It was a giant mess.

This is Moo. He loves people. He HATES other animals. He WILL NOT use a litter box. He also doesn't want to go outside. What was this cat's life??? He was sick when we got him so first he had to get better. Then, he got fixed. Once he could be not locked in Ruby's room (he got booted because he was anti-litter box) and then the bathroom (where he remained anti-litter box), he was a bitchy little guy. He attacked Buddy twice. He yelled at everyone. He continued to refuse to use the litter box. But he absolutely loved us (the humans).

Ruby! I got that picture from Door Dash.

Maggie and Ruby got boba tea.

That's poor Binx on the highway. Maggie named him after the cat in Hocus Pocus.
I got my independent license!!!
Our neighbors gave this to her.

Buddy already doesn't like any animals and Moo did not help improve his opinion.
Look at those ginormous paws!
Honey Bear loves me.
We got hair cuts and the girls both got dye. Ruby got all over purple and Maggie got blonde stripes.

Zilla really wanted to touch Moo. He was a hard pass.

This was his domain unless I physically took him somewhere else. I started making him go outside (since he refused to use a litter box) and he seemed to dislike that as well. How did he live before the animal shelter? Was he an only pet who went outside for the bathroom but had somehow never seen another pet????

Well, spoiler alert, but he just left. After he got fixed and I started trying to get him used to outside, he just peaced out. We looked for him and he is microchipped but no luck.

Andor is a masterpiece!!!

She's a beautiful dummy!
Don't fact check this! I choose to believe it's true.
We went to the library.
This is Mom's/Nana's birthday dinner. I guess we don't have any pictures of Dad's/Grandpa's.
