Still catching up

Look how little Ruby looks! And damn, what a mess. In big sister's shoes.

She was so sweet with those dandelions. She could not blow on them right but she enjoyed trying.

You ok?

Ruby says, you ok? when she's concerned about anyone. This morning I was laying on the floor and she came over and said it and I thought I wonder where she learned that or to put those words together. Not two minutes later, she went to sit next to me, miscalculated, and bumped her head and I heard myself say, you ok?

She talks like crazy now. She's also a bit of a tyrant. I hear, quite often, that's my (fill in the blank). That's my toy. That's my mama. That's my chair. That's my phone. That's my couch. Jeez. 

She's still mostly happy and sweet. She's started hitting a lot. She spends so much of her time around bigger kids and it's her way of making sure she gets hers but it's way less cute in the nursery at co-op or when she smacks poor Jilli. 

She also says, it's my turn. And, go away, Maggie/Mama/Greenley. We have all of Laurie's pets here now and it's bananas! She mostly just calls them whatever but usually Greenley. 

Maggie is doing well. We have a pretty set routine and that helps a lot. Everyone is less than healthy this week so things aren't perfect but not bad. 

Catching up, again

This was in my drafts. From May! Time to catch up. Again.

Reading: Maggie just started a new series. We read all the Mercy Watson books and then all the Violet Mackerel books. Now, we're reading a series called Anna Hibiscus. 

We're also reading the Lemony Snicket books. I like the level of mystery. Maggie spends a lot of time trying to put the pieces together. 

We read poems every day. She reads the same one several days in a row to work on her fluency and I read a different one every day.

We still make cards. We've also started working on Narration skills. Basically her ability to tell a story with details and elaboration. She's also been freewriting. She's so cute writing her little stories. There's not a whole lot of plot or detail but it's still cute. 

We're still making our way through spelling. We've almost made it through the Dolce list. She really has a feel for spelling. She almost always gets words right the first or second time and then once she gets it, she has it down. Even in her writing, she almost always gets her words right. 

For math, we switched to an online thing. It's very game based and she likes it. I'm still having her practice her basic facts so she has them memorized.
