Since we didn't get to finish our workboxes yesterday, we just picked up where we left off. First, as always, we did calendar. We go over the date, months, days of the week, weather, and counting. Then reading.
Then we did Science. We are still working on bugs, specifically ants. We read a book about ants and sang "Ants go marching." Then we made an ant. We just used an egg carton with 3 parts, painted it brown, added legs and antennae and googly eyes. Very cute. Maggie even asked where the thorax was.
I tried my hand at french braiding. I couldn't get it very tight but I'll keep trying, it's such a great way to keep her hair out of her face and off her neck in this hot weather.
Here she's being a kitty. She's under a big plastic storage bin where we keep her toys.
We laid down for a few minutes and Maggie asked me to suck my fingers, saying "Mommy, they'll taste like strawberries." So cute.
After Maggie visited her Dad, we went to Aunt Laurie's house to hang out with Ella. It was fun. Ella is so funny. She has this hilarious Mick Jagger dance that her Daddy taught her. Oh my goodness, it is so cute and funny.
Oh and last night she was playing with her sensory box. She has added her magnetic letters and she started asking how to spell bat. It took her several times but she got it right. I am always surprised by how interested she is in the things we learn about. As long as I make it fun and stress-free, she really takes things in. She asks a million questions throughout the day and I try to answer every single one of them. They are all so interesting, it amazes me. She asked me today if the moon was a planet and we ended up talking about the planets and how they all have several moons. I love teaching Maggie.
