Wednesday

Today was a school day. We had an Easter feast. It was so yummy. After we got home, we did school work. I am so excited by how much Maggie is learning. She's got the sounding out thing pretty well down. Today she was able to sound out 6 words completely independently. Woo hoo!

After we finished school work, we went outside again to pick and clean flowers.
Pants are for suckers!

Shoes too!

Sleeping Beauty needed a bath too.

Jake wants that cup.

Now he wants Maggie's bowl of water and flowers.
Thwarted!

He's got the cup back.

Sleeping Beauty in her acorn hat.

A bug I found and told Maggie about. He didn't make it.

Sorry, Mr. Bug.

These are the caterpillars. I can't believe how big they've already gotten. You can actually watch them eat and chew. Crazy.

These are the Easter eggs I made. I made 3 dozen. They were popular.

Tuesday

Today was a very busy day. We started off with school work. Then it was time for errands.

First, we went to Keller to pick up some stuff from the house. Maggie was thrilled to see Nana and Gran. She got to play for a while.

Then we went to the library. Maggie, of course, insisted we look at their bug collection. She is fascinated with that thing. After that we went to the grocery store and Maggie actually wanted to sit in the cart. I was more than happy to comply.

When we got home, we started making Rice Krispie eggs. They turned out well. Very cute. I had to kick Maggie out of the kitchen because she wouldn't stop eating the ingredients.

I sent her outside with a plastic bowl and a plastic cup filled with water. She then did her favorite activity: pick flowers and clean them.

We also got our caterpillars today. So we read up on them and looked at them and I told her over and over not to shake, open or turn them upside down.

Doctor Appointments, continued

During our pseudo-Spring Break (Kandice and Jeremiah went out of town for 2 weeks so we had a mini-vacation), I scheduled all of Maggie's doctor appointments.

We had to have all new doctors since changing Maggie's insurance.

For the first time at her regular doctor, they wanted her to get undressed and put on one of those paper gowns. I helped Maggie get undressed and started to put on the gown. Maggie said, "But Mommy, it's made of toilet paper."

She was perfectly healthy. She weighs 32.5 lbs and is 40.5", which puts her in the 15th percentile for weight and 41st for height.

She did great at the dentist. They were able to do most everything. The dental hygienist was great and talked to her before she did anything and let her touch/play with all the equipment she could.

A Day during Spring Break

This was one day during Spring Break. We were going to go to the library, go on the train in Trinity Park and then go to Maggie's eye doctor appointment. We went to the library and read books and looked around and I remember looking at a clock and seeing it was noon and panicking (we were planning on going on the 1 pm train and we still had to grab lunch). However, after we got lunch and got to the train station it was 10 until noon so. . . yeah, we were quite early.

Luckily, we were right next to the Trinity River so we went and picked flowers and talked and walked up and down the stairs and waited for the train.

The lights were on in the train depot and popcorn was popped and there was a big Open sign but no person. No train at 12 pm.

No train at 12.30 pm.

No train at 1 pm. :(  It never showed up. No one ever came so eventually (mainly because I had to pee) we went to the Fort Worth Science and History Museum.

I know this is a horrible picture but this thing was so weird. It was like a giant acorn top. Maggie, of course, used it as a container to hold her flowers.

The museum finally put in a parking lot that is free to members. It was costing so much to park it wasn't worth it to have a membership. I'm so glad we can start going again. Maggie loves it. We stayed there until it was time to drive to Irving for her eye appointment.

The eye exam place was insane. There were about a million people and not enough room. They finally called us and took us into this creepy room with an antique vibe and crazy busy wallpaper and those china dolls. Ick! Then they sent us back out. Finally we saw her (new) eye doctor. He did not understand me when I explained why Maggie wore glasses. Then he said he didn't want to change her Rx but that she might outgrow her glasses (her original doc said she for sure would). It was a little odd but I guess we'll keep everything as is and keep seeing this new guy.
