School's out for summer

Maggie and her friends. I'm pretty sure this is her last day of school. They all hung out and watched movies. Grandpa was kind enough to shuttle them from the school to Jack in the Box to Walgreen's to one of their houses. Kids. . .

Rickon had to go. They said it's resource guarding. In the beginning, it was just food but then his definition of what he needed to guard kept expanding. I was afraid my kids would be holding something that he would decide he needed to guard and attack one of them. He got Millie and put a hole in her ear. I know he could do more damage and he was holding back but it's not a risk I'm willing to take with my kids. He went to stay at one of the rescue's trainer's house. They are going to train him so he can still be adopted. When he wasn't being scary or mean, he really was a sweet guy. I will not miss the shedding. You cannot believe how much this guy shed.
I had to get fingerprinted for my social work license. But this one had to be done in ink. So I went to the police department to get it done. I was texting with Maggie as I waited and, on a whim, grabbed a picture of them. I told Maggie I was in trouble. She was texting me all caps, WHAT DID YOU DO? So, I told her I was arrested and I needed her to ask Grandpa if he could come bail me out. I laughed so hard. I really am one of the funniest people I know. Maggie thought it was markedly less funny. She told me Grandpa is mad! And Ruby is crying! I'm still laughing.

Ruby's last day of school, I think.

So, Ruby likes to brush her own hair because she says I'm too rough. Which is fine. But every so often I brush it to make sure she's getting everything. I went to brush and found a big knot behind her ear. She said, no! I'll get it, let me work on it. And foolishly, I agreed. She came back not 2 minutes later and said, okay mom check now. Can you guess??? She cut the thing out and then thought I wouldn't notice. That picture is the chunk of hair she cut out. Ruby!!!

Everyone is graduating

Ruby had her 1st grade graduation. She is so darn cute. That's her best friend, Sadie, that she's hugging.

Maggie and Ms. Burum, the band director. Speaking of band, I got an email from the MHS band director asking me to reconsider Maggie quitting band. I wish, dude! She refuses.
This is stupid Rickon. He's a pain in the ass. I had a meeting with a dog behavior guy to try to get his behavior under control. He's got a week. He's too big to be growling at anyone. He steals food and will growl if you try to take anything away from him.
Ruby and Ms. Krueger.
All A's for my final semester of school!
Ruby's graduation
She got the best handwriting award and was proud of herself for being brave enough to try hard things this year.
Being not-a-jerk.

Have I mentioned I graduated???

Maggie took pictures with several of her teachers. This is the cute teacher, Mr. Singer, that she told I said was cute and has continued to embarrass me! Rude! Also, that's her friend Raz.

Assistant band director, Mr. Barge.
Security guard, Mr. Wolf.
I'll have to ask. Science or history, I think.
We went to family night at Mary Moore. They got books from the book fair, ate dinner from In and Out (which, by the way, Ruby decided she doesn't want to eat cow anymore (which she let me know after I'd bought her dinner), so Ruby ate both bags of chips and Maggie ate both burgers), had a sing-along with Mr. Prange, who is leaving after this year, and watched Moana. This is Mr. Prange, Sadie, and Ruby.

That's Rickon. He's huge, even bigger than Natasha. He is so fluffy. I try to brush him (outside only!) but I think I need one of those heavy-duty dog brush/vacuum things. He's heart worm positive and undergoing treatment for that. Then he'll need to be fixed and then he can be adopted. Hopefully. He's a good boy but he will run right out the door to go pee on everything.
We had my graduation party Saturday night. I'm just so freaking happy to be graduating!!! Everyone was there and it was so lovely. Then, on Sunday, we had a Mother's Day party at Laurie's house. Also, lovely and so fun. Somehow, this is the only picture (although, a great one) I got from either party.

Spring

This is Ruby's field day. She won 3rd place in a bean bag activity!

This is Ruby at Grandpa's 70th birthday party. I don't know how I didn't get any other pictures. We went to Texas de Brazil. Ruby was very excited to drink her strawberry lemonade from a wine glass.
Maggie had her final spring concert. She won the Crescendo award! She looked absolutely shocked when they called her name. It was very sweet.

May

Ruby and I were lying in bed, and she told me she saw a sign when she was going on her field trip. She told me, "It said 'we buy gold,' but I don't buy gold." She was very bothered that the sign presumed to know her gold-buying habits.

Yesterday, she told me, "Mom, I have bad news. Instead of 8 kids, I just want to have one." So. . . big news.

This was the day of her field trip. They went to the FW History and Science Museum and Stovall Park.

Oh! Wednesday got adopted again!

Ruby and I voting after swim lessons.
