Sunday, Day 23 of Quarantine

Sunday was a better day. The girls went to their Dad's around 3 or so (Texas Supreme Court ruled all visitation continues as normal). They spent the night. Savannah got Spot. He was eating her food and she snapped at him and got him in the head. It wasn't too bad but I think it really scared him. I felt so bad for him. Savannah definitely felt guilty but I don't think she knew why.
Buddy doesn't show up well in pictures. But that's my sweet Bud with his tongue sticking out. I love that guy. Ruby has been torturing him when she gets bored (often). She loves to pick him up and either run around with him or just sit with him. I'm constantly on her to leave him alone.
Her allergies were bothering her eyes so much she was rubbing them raw. You can't really see but it looked so painful. Laurie said to put a warm cloth on it. I upped her allergy meds and now, as soon as I see her rubbing, I get a warm cloth and have her just press it to her eyes to try get the allergens out.
Savannah is pretty sure it's her job to keep the girls safe. She often sits near them or goes to check on them. She lost her mind when they left. She was so upset. She didn't like Richard and was very confused why I wouldn't let her attack him. Then when the girls left she was apopleptic. She drove me nuts.

Saturday, Day 22 of Quarantine

More pictures. I don't want to write about Saturday. It was hard and sad. This is hard and sad.

These are all Neko. Maggie named him. We really did love him.

Guess who didn't like him? Notice she's on the other side of our fence.

Friday, Day 21 of Quarantine

I haven't been posting pictures so today and tomorrow I'm going to dump all my pictures.

I bought the girls little packs of cereal and they descended on it like savages. They cleared it out within a couple of hours.
Poor Jay. He is so sick on his heartworm treatment. I feel so bad for him.
Some mornings I just give Ruby my phone and tell her to play. She loves to go take pictures. I have nine million but here's just a couple.
 Jay would like breakfast please.
 What could go wrong here???
My poor, sick old man. Those worms are just ravaging him. Well, the worms and the medicine to kill them.

This was our first foster. We had her for like three hours. We called her Lady. She took zero sh!t from the boys.

Neko! I really did love him.

Thursday, Day 20 of Quarantine

Another night with good sleep. RUBY WAS ACTUALLY ASLEEP WHEN I OPENED HER DOOR. This, like, never happens. Jay woke her up immediately. Everyone got up and got ready. We took Savannah on a walk. Ruby calls her Habanah. Very cute.

I made the girls a different meal. I got out our muffin tins and filled each one with something different: carrots, bell peppers, Cheerios, berries, apples, muffins, etc. I told them once they finish the entire tin, they can have whatever they want. We'll see how it goes. I'd rather they not leave quarantine with scurvy.

Maggie did school work but complained a lot. She gave the full run down for why she shouldn't have to do any school at home (since she's going to sixth grade anyway). This is a sign she's had too much screen time. So, after she finished all her school work, I turned off all screens for an hour and a half. Guess how that went over???

I made Ruby something fun to play with: shaving cream, food coloring, and some of her toys. I made her keep outside because, hoo boy, it was messy.

Ruby keeps saying to me, watch and learn. It's so cute. She'll go to show me something and say, ok mom watch and learn.

We had a nice long run of contact with the outside world. Maggie, of course, is much better at this. Ruby is ridiculous. She's bad about keeping her face in screen. When she's done, she's done. And sooooo rude about it. Like the person she's talking to called her and is refusing to let her get off the phone. We're working on it.

We had our movie time. Ruby went to bed well. Maggie and I did all our reading. After I went to my room to read, Maggie kept coming in and telling me she could hear kittens. I finally came out and I heard what did sound like some sort of baby animal. So I went out to investigate and I saw and heard nothing. But when I turned around there were Annie and Sally. They are pissed and on strike but I guess they'd like to come home. Poor girls. They still wouldn't come in for me. Apparently Maggie heard Annie again and then saw her. She got her to come in and picked her up but Savannah heard something and came to check and Maggie got jacked up by Annie. It was very dramatic. I don't want to victim blame but maybe wear some clothes and/or don't pick up a cat naked.

Tuesday, Day 18 of Quarantine

Last night, Ruby had a bad night. Her allergies are bad and they appear to mainly bother her eyes. They are itchy and watery. She woke up multiple times complaining randomly. It was bad. Then this morning when we got up her eyes were red and raw from rubbing. Laurie said to put a washcloth on them to try to encourage whatever it is to get out of there. I also gave her extra allergy medicine.

The FW people asked me if I would consider a dog that better fit our needs. An older dog that's calm and good with cats, dogs, kids. I said yes. So we got Savannah. She's big but not too active. It's much calmer here. She is pretty sure she is in charge of the girls. She follows them and checks on them. It's very cute.

Wednesday, Day 19 of Quarantine

Last night was much better. Savannah barked once and I had to yell at her but that's it.

We took Savannah for a walk. My shoes need to be replaced (which might take a minute) and Savannah is ridiculous on a leash, so we didn't go as long as usual.

Today's been better. Maggie got some schoolwork done. I put on live PBS because they are doing "school" shows for the day. Better than anything else. We cleaned. I exercised.

I had a bunch of meetings again today.

Did I mention about Savannah? She seems to consider Maggie and Ruby her charges and she follows them and protects them. She sits by where they are and just kind of watches over them. She checks in with them. When I came out from putting Ruby to bed last night, Savannah came at me. She gave me the what for until she realized it was just me. It was only maybe 2 or 3 seconds, but I feel like if it hadn't been me, she would have gotten somebody good.

We had movie time. It would be super awesome if we could just stay on track and not have bad nights that cause everything to basically reset.

Monday, Day 17 of Quarantine

Oh my god! Neko woke me up at least twice barking last night. He's had two more people apply to adopt him. Farewell, sweet boy.

I was so tired. We didn't go on a walk this morning. I had meetings all morning. The girls were actually pretty good. We take Neko back today. No more fosters for sure. I'd like to help but I'm not going back and forth like this. I told them and they said they'll get back to me.
